Dr. Sircus,

I am 57 years old and have had BPH (enlarged prostate) for about 15 years. To remedy the condition, I've been taking increasingly greater amounts of various prostate formula nutritional supplements. Unfortunately, during the past two years, I've had to go to the ER twice to have urinary blockages catheterized. I was put on Flomax and Finasteride by my first urologist, but stopped shortly after use. The Flomax stuffed up my nose so much that I could hardly breath, and the Finasteride (only took it for ten days) dropped my libido to zero. I've found that the Jarrow brand "Prostate Optimizer with BroccoMax" works as well as Flomax. However, at eight capsules per day (approx. $3.20), it is more expensive than Flomax, plus it is not reducing the prostate size but simply keeping it from growing more. I also use Advil on days of severe swelling. A second urologist had blood work done for me and told me I had a 4.6 PSA level. He recommended a biopsy, but I declined as I felt it was completely unnecessary at only a 4.6 PSA. He also recommended out-patient laser surgery. I didn't want to risk it, however, after reading about numerous cases ending with bad results, so I passed on that, too. I also tried to acupuncture, but to no avail. After about four months of treatment with minimal improvement, my accupuncturist (also an M.D.) suggested laser surgery, and recommended yet another urology practice (which I have not visited). I still believe I can cure this affliction without invasive surgery or debilitating pharmaceuticals. What suggestions do you have for the millions of us men suffering with BPH? Do you have a sodium bicarbonate-based protocol for addressing BPH and permanently reducing prostate size?

Thank you in advance for your reply, as well as for your excellent work.

Wendy,

I don't think we've had experience with bicarbonate and Morgellons disease....but just mix some bicarbonate in water and swish it around your mouth a few times/day. For your skin just mix some with a bit of water to make a paste and either leave it dry on your face and wash off or use it as a facial scrub. Its a great exfoliant too.

Hi Rebecca,

Safe pH range is 6.5 to 7.3 or 7.4. It should be marked on the packaging.

Hello I'm a Colon Hydrotherapist and I wanted to know How can bi carb soda kill candida? If so, what's the remedy? would you recommend that it be used when doing an enema or a colonic?

Thank you Claudia for your advice. Yes you are right it is sold mostly in Europe but I get my supply from Asian stores that sell the stuff too. I go through 100g bottle easily within 3 days. I am also getting very dry mouth. I will go to the pharmacy and pick up the pH papers. What is the safe range on the Ph paper?

Dear Martie,

Along with drinking lots of water, I hope you have tried iodine and sodium bicarbonate when you start to feel the symptoms of a UTI.

Dear Amanda,

There is no way to be sure that this company in Australia is telling you the truth about the naturally occurring aluminum, besides some deep digging on your part.

Naturally occurring aluminum is in many things mined from the earth and in very small amounts should not be a concern. Even clay has some aluminum in it but that is not released into the body when clay is used orally.

Your doctor said your kidney function was not 100% But what % function is it? His simple statement to you does not mean you have to avoid using magnesium altogether, it depends on how much function you have remaining. But you do need to be more careful and watchful. You need more information from your doctor at least on the lab tests he's already done.

Bicarbonate can help with kidney function but you really need to know more about your personal condition. Then consider a consultation with Dr. Sircus so he can have adequate information from you. It would seem that a small amount of bicarb per day plus watch your bp would not hurt.
