I have renal tubular acidosis, most likely acquired, in part, from the heavy metals in patent Chinese herbs. I have found most Arm and Hammer baking soda tastes like detergent. I suspect it is shipped in trucks along with detergent. I often have to pour it into a plate to “air” it out. And yes, I do have a super-sensitive nose. Thank you for you very helpful articles.

Keep a watch on her blood pressure and monitor it often. Studies have shown that sodium bicarbonate does not have the same effects on blood pressure as sodium chloride does. Work under the watchful eye of a health care practitioner.

My 69 old mom was recently diagnose with kidney disease how can she take the sodium carbonate she has high blood preasure and high colesterol.

We have verification from Church and Dwight who make Arm and Hammer products, that there is no aluminum in their sodium bicarbonate. Apparently other companies just use that fact as an advertising ploy.

However baking soda may contain aluminum.

Only sodium bi carb, aluminum not listed in ingedients.

Thanks. It’s the 4th day of taking oral bc. My cold symptoms are almost completely gone! I don’t have to go forward fearing that pneumonia will “get me some day.”

Use magnesium chloride in your baths instead of epsom salts. The magnesium chloride will last longer in your body. By doing this and using the oil on your skin, your magnesium stores will increase much faster than it will by taking oral doses of magnesium. Dr. Norm Shealy proved this in his early work. Magnesium from oral doses is only absorbed at the rate of about 30-40% and it can take up to a year to get depleted magnesium levels up where they belong. By usinng 1 or 2 oz/day on your skin you can bring levels up within a few months. Any excess will be excreted through your kidneys, if you have good kidney function. (caution if kidney function is compromised)
